Title: Kingsman: Secret Service
MPAA Rating: R
Director: Matthew Vaughn
Starring: Colin Firth, Samuel L. Jackson, Taron Egerton
Runtime: 1 hr 40 mins

What It Is: Unknown to anyone in parliament or anywhere else The Kingsman are a gentleman spy organization, each code named after a knight of King Arthurs court (thus the name Kingsman) when the current Lancelot goes down they have an opening and tradition dictates each remaining member must select a person to go through the vetting process in order to fill the spot. Galahad (Colin Firth) one of Arthur’s (Michael Caine) most trusted Kingsman selects an unsavory young man named Eggsy. Meanwhile the man who killed the previous Lancelot has far more sinister plans, and it’ll be up to Galahad and the other Kingsmen to figure out what those plans are and thwart them.

What We Think: Wow! This movie is just a damn fun time! Not only is the action insane but the story is good enough that you stay invested. So who doesn’t think Colin Firth can be an action star…well you are wrong! Firth is believable as Galahad and looks the part of gentleman spy. That was never up for debate, what was an “issue” was how he’d handle the nitty gritty. Well here’s some news for you folks…dude handled business! Matthew Vaughn just gets how to shoot this type of film, and there’s more then a few nods to Vaughn’s previous indie comic adaptation Kick-Ass. It’s because of those previous ventures that this movie truly reaps the benefits. It’s fully fleshed out action, that never truly stops to take a breath, and yet the whole time you’re on the ride you do not want it to stop!

Our Grade: A, Man I want to see this one again! I also think everyone should go see it for their Valentine’s Day. Mr. Grey will probably win that weekend but this thing will definitely have legs to it. From a performance standpoint there’s no weak one in the bunch and Mark Strong playing the “Q” (named Merlin) to Firth’s Bond especially steals the show with an awesome supporting turn. Go see Knigsman: Secret Service when it hits, we’re quite certain you won’t be sorry.
