The Purge: A Yearly Release?

The Purge, was released to theaters last year to unflattering reviews. And it’s looking like Blumhouse Productions is considering an idea that would make The Purge, a yearly release.

The popular Paranormal Activity franchise has been the most recent to become a franchise player for Blumhouse, and the Saw franchise did the same thing, but not without taking some hits from the critics.
The 2013 horror film revolves around one family’s struggle to stay alive during a specific day in the year, in which all crime is legal for 12 hours.
Jason Blum (founder) said he would “love” for it to become a reality, in an interview with Collider.com.

Blumhouse isn’t a stranger to franchise horror, as their Paranormal Activity and Insidious films all have sequels coming out, along with The Purge: Anarchy.
While the film did well in the box office, the critics just weren’t in favor.

Could Blumhouse turn our heads with sequels? Or are they wearing it too thin?
Only time will tell.
