Title: Boy Wonder
Year: 2010
Whose In It?: Caleb Steinmeyer, Zulay Henao, Bill Sage
What The Heck Is It?: Sean Donovan had something particularly terrible happen to him, and as such it has molded him into a vigilante on the streets of New York. Not content just assisting innocent bystanders he also deals heavy damage to street gangs, and drug pushers. All the while hoping to find the man that changed his course forever. So which is Sean? The student turned vigilante or the vigilante posing as a straight A student?
Title: The Other F Word
Year: 2011
Whose In It?: A Bunch of dudes from your favorite bands
What The Heck Is It?: Punk. It’s anti-establishment, anarchic, a just plain nuts. So what happens when some of punks wildest boys have Offspring (pun intended). Well their just dads who love their family as much as they do their jobs (I’d give a slight edge to the kiddos however). Interviews, and introspection from some of punk most influential guys from Pennywise’s Jim Lindburg, and Blink 182’s Mark Hoppus to U.S. Bombs singer Duane Peters unbelievably heart-wrenching tale of his son. This is a rockdoc for fans of Punk music, or just those who don’t understand what it means to be a father.
Title: The Company Men
Year: 2010
Whose In It?: Ben Affleck, Chris Cooper, Tommy Lee Jones
What The Heck Is It?: In a moment everything can change, and that’s what happened to Bobby Walker and quite a few others at GTX corporation. After losing his job he has to reevaluate everything. His lifestyle, and more importantly he has to look inside himself and truly understand what it is to not be able to support your family. That’s where this film gets truly tragic as not every character can handle their new found joblessness. The varying degrees to which the characters more specifically Affleck’s Walker, and Cooper’s Phil Woodward make this a truly excellent film.
Title: Life Is Beautiful (Le Vita e Bella)
Year: 1997
Whose In It?: Roberto Benigni, Nicoletta Braschi, Giorgio Cantarini
What The Heck Is It?: It’s 1930’s Italy, and Mussolini is feeling the pressure of allie Germany and their movement towards those of Jewish decent. All the while Guido is having a whirlwind romance with Dora. He’s a humorous fellow, and will need that humor when those Nazi forces infiltrate Italy, and take Guido and his son to a concentration camp. To get his son through this he pretends it’s a game. If this film doesn’t end with you in tears, you’re a soulless vessel not meant to love.
Title: Big Trouble in Little China
Year: 1986
Whose In It?: Kurt Russell, Kim Catrell, Dennis Dun
What The Heck Is It?: Trucker Jack Burton is just too nice a guy. He gets caught in a outerwordly war to help his buddy Wang Chi get his fiancee back from crazy Lo Pan. What ensues is John Carpenter at his most…strange. There is a death scene in this film that has now become iconic in it’s absolute awesomeness. Like 80’s camp?…got it. Like Kurt Russell being Kurt Russel?…got it! Like really bad Asian stereotypes?…yeah it’s got that too. Enjoy this trip to Chinatown you’ll wanna take over and over!
